Denbighshire County Council has reviewed and updated their Statement of Licensing policy.
The Licensing Act 2003 set out four statutory licensing objectives, which must be taken into account when considering licensing applications. The objectives are:
- the prevention of crime and disorder
- public safety
- the prevention of public nuisance
- the protection of children from harm
The policy sets out how applications will be dealt with, in order to promote these four objectives. The policy is to help officers and elected members in reaching a decision on a particular application, in setting out the matters that will normally be taken into account. It also provides clarity for applicants and residents, to help them to understand the objectives being promoted and the matters being considered in granting licences.
Whilst the policy provides framework guidance, the Licensing Authority will ultimately determine each individual application on its own merits.
