Project overview

This project will be delivered by Denbighshire Leisure Ltd. in 2 parts:

Part 1 - Community Grants Scheme which aims to enable smaller organisations, such as local sports clubs and arts and cultural organisations to:

  • apply for funding to support local arts, cultural and creative activities
  • support local sports facilities, to host tournaments, develop and grow new teams and leagues

Part 2 - Creative Arts Programme which will work with key third sector partners and community and health partners to deliver an arts in health and wellbeing participatory programme in community, social care and health settings.

Project updates

March 2024

Some key activities which have taken place so far as a result of this SPF funding for this project include:

  • Weekly Lost in Art sessions for people living with dementia and their family and carers which take place at Ruthin Craft Centre. Participants work with professional artists and use the gallery exhibitions to inspire their own creative work.
  • KIM Inspire is a charity providing professional mental health support for the community of Prestatyn. Members of the community can self-refer and are supported by the team at KIM-Inspire.  DLL’s lead artist has been working with a group using creative interventions to improve wellbeing.
  • DLL are working in partnership with Canolfan Gerdd William Mathias, a charity working across North Wales to provide music training, performance and creative opportunities. Weekly sessions are held via Zoom for people in Denbighshire with learning difficulties. Participants are groups of people being supported by Denbighshire County Council’s Community Support Services, as well as people living with learning disabilities in various facilities. 
  • DLL’s sessions at extra care facilities, Awel Y Dyffryn, Denbigh and Llys Awelon, Ruthin are also in partnership with Canolfan Gerdd William Mathias and Grŵp Cynefin.  These sessions are led by a qualified Music Therapist and take place to help encourage connectivity and wellbeing.
