UKSPF project: Tourism TALENT Pathfinder

Funded by UK Government logo

Project lead: Coleg Llandrillo (Grwp Llandrillo Menai)

This project covers more than one local authority.

Project overview

The Tourism TALENT Network Pathfinder will lay the groundwork for the delivery of the Tourism TALENT Network (North Wales Growth Deal) to tackle recruitment deficiencies, address negative perceptions and promote career opportunities in the tourism sector.

The Pathfinder will provide early outreach and engagement to change the narrative and mindset around the opportunities and value of a career in tourism and hospitality.

It will ensure a pipeline of students is established when the Network is launched. The Pathfinder project will develop skills and training provision for partners and accelerate the hub Centre of Excellence development at Coleg Llandrillo.

Project updates

March 2024

The Tourism Talent Pathfinder launched its activities in Denbighshire on February 27th and 28th at Rhyl High School. Over two days, hundreds of high school students from around the country attended Rhyl High School for a series of events focused on Hospitality & Tourism. Events included a School Food Showdown, where year 7 pupils delved into food provenance, basic life skills, cooking techniques, and nutritional understanding, and Year 10 students engaging with local professional chefs in work experience-style activities. The aim was to provide insight into employer expectations and the promising career opportunities within the Hospitality and Tourism sector in Denbighshire and North Wales.
