You must have a skip permit to put a skip on the road. This includes the pavement and grass verge. A skip permit is sometimes known as a skip licence.
How do I apply?
We only accept applications from skip hire companies with £5 million public liability insurance. Individual members of the public can not apply for skip permits.
To apply for a skip permit, contact your desired skip hire company. The hire company will then complete an application form and send it to the address on the form.
How much does it cost?
A fee for a skip licence is £28.60 for up to 7 days and £81.40 per month.
The fee for a roll on/ roll off skip is £58.30 for up to 7 days and £202.40 per month.
An additional charge of £12.10 per day is applicable if the skip is located in a prohibited, restricted or suspended area.
Retrospective application: £115.50 plus the licence fee. This applies to a skip found on the highway without a licence.
We will send a monthly invoice to the hire company who will pass the charge on to you.
