You will need permission from us if you're planning to film television, movie, or drone footage on council owned land in Denbighshire.
Filming on privately owned land
We can only give permission to film over land that we own. We cannot give permission to film over privately owned land.
If you would like to film on privately owned land, it is your responsibility to get permission from the owner of that land.
We cannot provide any information about the owners of privately owned land.

- a news item concerning Denbighshire County Council
- a member of Denbighshire County Council's Cabinet
- a Denbighshire County Council employee
We ask that individual council officers are not approached directly by media.
When emailing our Public Relations department, please include:
- who you would like to interview
- where you would like to film / record
- when you would like to film (date and time)
- what the interview would be about

Filming on public roads
If you are planning on filming on a public highway and will be restricting the flow of traffic or pedestrian access, then you may be required to appoint a traffic management company to arrange for temporary traffic management, such as:
- Temporary Stop/Go boards
- Temporary road closure
- Temporary traffic lights

Filming with drones
If you plan to film with a drone, you must get permission from the landowner for take-off and landing. Without permission, you could be guilty of civil trespass.
We can only grant permission to film with drones over areas that we own.
Drone Operators and Remote Pilots are also responsible for using airspace properly.

You must register before flying most drones or model aircraft outdoors in the UK.

Applying to film with a drone on council land
When applying for permission to film on council owned land with a drone, you will need to provide:
- A copy of your CAA Licence
- A copy of your public liability insurance (minimum £5 million)
- A copy of your flight plan including launch and landing points
- A copy of your risk assessment
Notifying the Police
You may need to notify North Wales Police about filming in Denbighshire.

Request permission
In most cases, we ask for at least 15 working days’ notice to film on council owned land. Requests for exclusive access would need at least 8 weeks’ notice. For any requests, it’s helpful if we can get more than the minimum notice required.
