Joining the library
You can join online or at your local library.
If you join online you will be able to access eBooks, eAudiobooks, magazines, newspapers, and online resources straight away.
Whether you join online or in person, you will need to visit your local library and bring some identification with your name and address on to receive your library membership card.
It's free to join the library but there may be a charge for a replacement card if you lose yours.
Borrowing books
You will need your library card to borrow a book. When you have chosen your books please take them to the library desk and give the member of staff your library card. Some of our libraries have self-service terminals which allow you to borrow and return books yourself. Just ask a member of staff if you would like to see how they work.
How many books can I borrow?
You can borrow a maximum of 20 books with your library card. You can also use your library membership to download up to 10 eBooks and eAudiobooks via Borrowbox.
Can I return a book to a different library?
If you can’t make it to your local library you can return books to any public library in North Wales.
Are there any late charges?
There are no fines for returning books late, however you will be charged for the replacement cost of the book if it becomes 12 weeks overdue. This charge will be cleared if the book is then returned.
How can I renew a book?
You can renew items up to ten times at any branch or online via the Library Service online catalogue, with your library card number and PIN. You can renew items over the telephone during opening hours, please have your library card number on hand. If someone else has reserved an item that you have on loan, you will not be able to renew it.
If your borrower account includes an email address you can request a new PIN via our online catalogue. Alternatively you can contact one of our libraries, or email us. You will be asked to confirm personal details, such as date of birth or home address.
What if the book I want isn’t in my local library?
