To uplift and empower Denbighshire residents who are not in employment, Working Denbighshire have set up new social groups sessions, as part of their Barod project which aims at fostering confidence and skill development.

‘Coffee and Chat’ has been set up for those who are 25 years and over and ‘Chill and Chat’ has been launched for those aged between 16 and 24 years. These groups have been organised to help boost confidence and increase skills, all vital assets to have when it comes to employment.

Recognising the need for holistic support beyond traditional job searching assistance, the Barod project has designed the social groups to create a nurturing environment for individuals to rebuild confidence and enhance their skillsets. The project aims to help individuals re-enter the workforce with newfound enthusiasm and capabilities.

The social groups are led by Barod’s Wellbeing Coaches, ensuring a safe and conductive environment for participants to engage in meaningful discussions, learn from one another and embark on a journey of personal and professional growth. These new groups aim to create a supportive community where individuals can learn, grow and ultimately, achieve their career goals.

Councillor Jason McLellan, Leader of the Council and Lead Member for Economic Growth & Tackling Deprivation said:

“These sessions are a brilliant opportunity for people to come and learn out about ways they can boost their confidence.

Participants can also come along to learn from one another and have meaningful discussions as they start their journey towards employment.”

Tina Foulkes, Working Denbighshire Manager said:

“It is well known that unemployment negatively impacts a person’s health, so we are pleased to be able to offer free events to help unemployed Denbighshire residents overcome this.

We will be providing personalised coaching for all attendees, so if you are struggling with your wellbeing, please come along and make the most of the support you have available.”

The project will be running a selection of wellbeing activities throughout the year, with a long term goal to prepare people for employment.
