The Friday Mix @ Ruthin youth centre

The Friday Mix is a social group for young people age 13+ who identify as LGBT+ and is open to those who are friendly and supportive of the community. It is delivered in partnership with Young & Mindful (external website). Each week we will engage in fun and interactive activities which aim to expand and develop social skills and creativity.

10 January: Catch-up after the Christmas break

Icebreaker games and making a vision board for the year ahead.

17 January: Art from the heart - creative workshop for identity and self-expression

A group mural project on the themes of identity and pride.

24 January: DIY spa night – ‘self-care is self-love’

Make your own face masks or bath bombs with guided relaxation or meditation sessions to foster wellness.

31 January: Karaoke and open mic night - "sing it loud, sing it proud"

Karaoke sessions with inclusive playlists. Also, open mic for poetry, stories, or comedy.

7 February: Preparing for Valentines

Making a Valentines card and choosing a film for the following week.

Disco!

21 February: Cultural celebration night - "pride around the world"

Explore LGBTQ+ culture globally through trivia or short videos. Create your own flag representing your identity and build understanding and appreciation of diversity. With snacks inspired by different cultures.

14 March: Talent Show

Singing, dancing, art, poetry, and storytelling.

21 March: Mindful Reflection - "Letters to Self"

Young people can write a kind, encouraging letter to their future self.

28 March: Mother’s day crafts

Making Mother’s day cards and friendship bracelets and celebrating with an end of season party!
