Pride of Place and Natural Environment: overview

Funded by UK Government logo

An application for funding for projects within the former Vale of Clwyd constituency was submitted alongside the application for the former Clwyd West constituency in August 2022.

Projects included within the bids were contributed by Members, MPs, Town Councils and Officers across Denbighshire. Eligible projects were deliverable, impactful and fulfilled the LUF criteria. Further engagement with the Council’s Member Area Groups and Senior Leadership led to the finalised bid projects, which were then approved by Cabinet.

The application was not successful in 2022.

However, UK Government later reviewed all applications submitted and awarded a further round of funding to applications that had scored highly against the criteria.

Denbighshire County Council was notified that just under £20M of UK Government funding had been awarded for its application for projects in Rhyl, Prestatyn and Denbigh.

There have been some delays to finalising the funding however Denbighshire County Council has now been advised that the UK Government will be progressing with the formal approval of the grant award.

Once this process is complete Denbighshire County Council expect to recruit project teams and start the next steps in the project development. More information and indicative timescales will be published when available.
